Personal Rivalry and Financial Matters led to Killing Kishan Hegde – SP Vishnuvardhan
Udupi: “Personal rivalry and financial matters is the main motive for killing the rowdy sheeter Kishan Hegde”, said N Vishnuvardhan Superintendent of Police Udupi District.
Speaking at a press meet held at the SP office on September 26 evening, SP Vishnuvardhan said, “On September 24, unidentified persons, came in two cars, chased Kishan Hegde and hacked him to death using lethal weapons before fleeing from the spot. The District police formed four teams led by CPI Kaup Mahesh Prasad, CPI Brahmavar Ananthapadmanabha, CPI Udupi Manjunath and DCIB PSI Manajappa to arrest the accused. The team succeeded in arresting five of the accused within 24 hours of the incident”.
The arrested persons have been identified as Manoj Kulal (37), from Shediguri, Mangaluru, Chittaranjan Poojary (27)from Katipalla, Chethan (32) from Polali, Deekshith Shetty from Surthkal and Ramesh Poojary (38) from Bantwal.
All the five accused are involved in various criminal cases in DK and Udupi districts. Manoj is involved 17 cases in Mangaluru, Surathkal, Panaboor, Kavoor, Barke, Mulki and Bajpe Police stations.
Accused Chittharanjan Poojary is involved in 5 cases in Surthkal Mulki and Karkala Town stations while the accused Ramesh Poojary, Deekshith Shetty and Chethan Poojary are also involved in various crimes. The investigation team has seized three cars that were used for the crime.
Under the Directions of SP Vishnuvardhan, Additional SP of Udupi Kumar Chandra, and Jaishankar DySP Udupi, the operation was carried out by the CPI Brahmavar Anantha Padmanabha, ASI Krishnappa HC Vasu Poojary, Ganesh Pradeep, PC Ravi driver Shekar, Udupi CPI Manjunath, Manipal PSI Manjunath, DCIB CPI Manjappa, Kaup CPI Mahesh Prasad and Brahmavar PSI Raghavendra, staff Deelip, Sathish driver Annappa, Kota PSI Santhosh, driver Manju, Hiriyadka PSI Sudhakar Tonse, staff ASI Gangappa, Jayanth, Parameshwar, Dinesh, Raghu, Santhosh, Udaya Kamath, Shashi Kumar, Nithin, Harish, Indresh and Bhimappa.
