PG Dept of Biochemistry St. Aloysius College hosts National Workshop on Bioanalysis

Mangaluru: On 21 and 22 February 2018 the Department of Post Graduate Studies and Research in Biochemistry organized a Medical Council of India-funded National Level Workshop on Bioanalysis. At the inaugural ceremony, the chief guest, Dr Jomon Joseph, Scientist-F, NCCS Pune spoke about how microscopy is vital to the study of cell biology, especially in light of advances in molecular biology. The guest of honour, Rev. Dr Leo D’Souza S.J., Director, Laboratory of Applied Biology, St Aloysius College, emphasized the role of ethics
in modern scientific inquiry; Rev. Dr. Praveen Martis, Principal, St Aloysius College, addressed the continuing need for scientists in today’s world.

Dr A M Narahari, Registrar, St Aloysius College, was also present. Dr Lyned D Lasrado was the convenor and Dr Yogish Somayaji was the organizing secretary of the workshop. The workshop focused on teaching participants the techniques of Western Blotting, ELISA, Flame Photometry, Spectrophotometry and Automated Biochemical Analysis. A total of 44 students, from various colleges, participated in the workshop. The staff and the students of the PG Department of
Biochemistry were the resource persons.
