Phone-in: Citizens Complain to SP Nimbargi about Monkey Problems!
Udupi: The Udupi district police superintendent Laxman B Nimbargi registered as many as 23 complaints during the phone-in programme on Friday, February 23.
A woman resident of the Police quarters Manipal complained that a private lodge was releasing waste water to the open drainage as a result two policemen suffered with dengue fever. The residents had complained a number of times to the city municipality but they did not respond she said. SP assured that within two days the problem will be solved.
There was a complaint on illegal parking at Karkala near the Mahalaxmi Petrol Bunk. A caller from Udupi complained about the irregular parking near Ashirvad theatre. There was a complaint on irregular parking also at the Karkala Bus-stand.
A caller from Barkur said that the mini bridges of Yadthadi and Bakur were under threat due to the movement of heavy vehicles. To avoid paying the Toll truck drivers pass through these bridges. He appealed the police to stop the movement of heavy vehicles through these bridges. SP instructed the DySP Udupi to look into the matter and to impose fines on such vehicles.
SP Nimbargi received calls on family disputes, Parking problems, Traffic problems etc., for which the police head assured of looking into the matter.
After the last Phone-in programme 20 arrests were made in connection with 20 matka cases, 8 cases registered and 45 persons arrested in single number gambling case, 9 arrests were made in the NDPS case. 110 cases on shrill horns, 7 drink and drive and 45 cases for using the mobile phone while riding the bike, 1014 cases of riding without helmet, 147 rash driving and 1654 other traffic related cases were registered, said SP Nimbargi.
