Physics of Toys National Workshop held at St Aloysius College
Mangaluru: The inauguration of the 2-day National Level workshop on the theme “Physics of Toys” was held on 13th December 2019 in L F Rasquinha Hall. This workshop was organized by the department of Physics, St Aloysius College (Autonomous) in association with IISER Pune. Dr Arun Isloor from NITK Surathkal inaugurated the workshop. Fr Dionysius Vaz, SJ, Rector, St Aloysius Institutions presided over the Inaugural function.
Dr Isloor narrated the importance of imagination and creativity. He stressed the importance of applied research giving examples of China. He said how china products rule the toys market. He explained how hard work and creativity can result into marketable products. He said such training are important for young children since they have open mind and free thinking.
Ashok Rupner from IISER pune was the resource person and demonstrated and trained the participants to make toys from the unused items and explained the physics behind its working. Dr A M Narahari, Registrar, Dr Alwyn D’Sa, Controller of Examinations, Deans, staff members, staff and students from various colleges participated in the inaugural programme.
Dr Narayana Bhat gave the insights about the workshop. Dr Ronald Nazareth briefed about the facilities of STAR College Scheme of DBT, Govt of India. Lawrence Pinto, welcomed the gathering. Dr Chandrashekara Shetty introduced the Chief Guest. Shawn Ajay D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks.
