Pickpocket Arrested near SBI Bus Terminus – Rs 28,000 Seized
Mangaluru: When Pandeshwar sub-inspector Anant Murdeshwar and his team were on a city patrol near the State Bank of India bus terminus here on Saturday, they found a man trying to flee after seeing them.
On suspicion, he was caught and interrogated. He was found possessing Rs 28,000, which, from his looks, could not belong to him.
He confessed to have picked the pocket of a person who was lying and relaxing in Gandhi park near the town hall on Apr 27.
The pickpocket has been identified as Rafiq (47) from Laksham Veed colony in Kannur district.
The man who had lost the money is M E Ibrahim. He was resting in Gandhi park around 10 am on Apr 27. He is said to have lost Rs 30,000, a part of which has been spent by Rafiq.
The money was seized and the matter is being pursued.
