Pinarayi Vijayan Should Change his Name to Tipu Sultan of Kerala for Harassing Ayappa Devotees – Ganesh Poduval

Mangaluru: The Sabarimala Samrakshana Kriya Samithi Mangaluru leader Ganesh Poduval slammed Kerala Government and said that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan who is harassing Ayappa Devotees should change his name as Tipu Sulthan of Kerala. He accused the ruling CPI-M-led LDF government of preventing freedom of worship at Sabarimala.

He was speaking at a protest held at the DC office on Tuesday, November 20. The CPI-M – led LDF government is playing with the sentiments of Ayyappa Devotees in Kerala. The government has arrested many devotees including BJP leader Surendran, Shashikala Teacher and others who were protesting peacefully in Kerala. The Kerala government has deployed nearly 15000 police in Sabarimala but the police are also afraid to go against temple traditions. A Karnataka based IPS officer Sathishchandran who has taken charge of Sabarimala three days back is harassing the devotees attending pujas or any other religious rituals. All this is happening under the directions of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, he said.

The Kerala state experienced major natural disaster two months back and the whole world came forward to help the state with financial support. The Union government has sanctioned Rs 100 crores for the development of Sabarimala but the Kerala government has not spent a single paisa for the development of the center.

Unfortunately, the state government is misusing crores of Rupees by unnecessarily deploying the police force. In Sabarimala, 90 percent of the police are the supporters of CPI-M government and they are harassing the Hindu devotees? He urged the government to take action only against the protesters who reach the hill shrine to disturb the peace there. Arresting real devotees, who climb the hill to offer prayers, cannot be accepted, he said.

Surathkal MLA Bharath Shetty addressing the protesters said earlier also the police were deployed in Sabarimala and they were working honestly. After the Supreme Court judgment, the new IPS officer who took charge in Sabarimala made the dress code of the police deployed there mandatory. The policemen have been instructed to wear the khaki uniform, cap, belt, shoes, shield, and lathi. The policemen should also obey the traditions of the Sabarimala temple but the new IPS officer is trying to go against the temple traditions. The manhandling to our BJP leader Surendran is condemnable.

The Kerala government is hurting the sentiments of Hindu Devotees. But they never tried to hurt the sentiments of Muslims or Christians. Hindus are targetted everywhere in Kerala state, but we are not going to quit. We from all over the country will go to Sabarimala in the coming days. Crores of revenue is coming from Sabarimala Temple but the Kerala State government is not using a Singe penny for the development of the Temple. We Should join hands to preserve the Sabarimala temple traditions, he said.
