PMO addresses connectivity issues in Attur Minor Basilica
Karkala: Every year thousands of devotees throng to the Annual Feast of St Lawrence Basilica Attur and media representatives from around the state come to Karkal to cover the events. In this regard, because of the network connectivity problems in the region, the church authorities have already approached all stakeholders to provide better network connectivity to the region.
Rector of St Lawrence Basilica Fr George D’Souza has approached all the telecom companies to provide network connectivity in the region but was unable to get the internet connectivity. Finally, Fr D’Souza wrote a letter to Manoj Sinha, Minister of Telecom on August 21, 2016, but the ministry failed to address the issue.
Fr D’Souza did not stop there, he wrote a letter, to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and appealed to him to solve the network connectivity issues in the region on September 2, 2016.
Narendra Modi after receiving the letter from Fr D’Souza directed the officials to take an immediate cognizance of the issue. The PMO office responded to Fr D’Souza’s query in 7 days.
BSNL Mangaluru Director Ravi effectively responded to the issue and a temporary mobile network tower has been erected in the region. The department has drafted a proposal for a permanent network tower in the premises of the Basilica.
Fr George applauding the quick response from the PMO has expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in solving the issue and providing better connectivity to the prime devotional hub of the Udupi district.

This is why Shree Narendra Modiji is the real leader. Unlike many local politicians from Congress, Shree Modiji and his PMO believes in doing right things irrespective of religious groups involved. I only wish we had more leaders like Modiji.
