POCSO accused Karkala School Teacher sent to Judicial custody till Dec 28

Udupi: The district special court on Friday, December 14 has remanded Judicial Custody to the POCSO case accused teacher who had allegedly sexually abused a minor girl student at a private school in Karkala.

The accused teacher Prasad (28) a resident of Belthangady was produced before the special court on Friday evening.

The accused teacher Prasad had sexually abused a minor girl of his school in a classroom during the daytime. The video clip of the alleged incident has gone viral in the social media. The Karkala rural police have registered Suo moto case against the teacher. Later the school administration also filed a complaint against him. Following the Suo moto case and the official complaint the accused was arrested on Thursday, December 13.

The Karkala Rural police produced the accused before the court and the court remanded the accused to fourteen days Judicial Custody.

Udupi SP Laxman Nimbargi said that the school administration has filed a complaint against a local TV Channel and Website media for publishing the video related to a minor girl. Meanwhile, many people are forwarding the video in social media which is against the law and an offence. The police are monitoring the social media, he said.
