Police and Military Personnel Conduct Route March ahead of Assembly Elections

Udupi: In a bid to ensure confidence amongst the voters the police along with Sashastra Seema Bal (armed border force) took out a route march in various localities in the city.

As the state goes for Assembly polls on May 12, such route marches are conducted to assure the citizens of free and fair polls.

About 100 Sashastra Seema Bal soldiers, led by Laxman Nimbaragi Supretendent of Police Udupi district, Kumarchandra ASP Udupi, Jai Shanker DySP Udupi, CPI and PSI Udupi participated.

The route march which began from Jodukatte passed through Big Bazar, old Taluk Office, Daina Circle, K M Marg, Triveni Circle, Service Bus stand, Kidiyoor Hotel, City Bus-stand, Kalasanka and culminated at the Sri Krishna Temple.

Speaking to Mangalorean.com SP Laxamn Nimbargi said, “The idea is to enhance the confidence level of voters, so that they can come out and cast their votes without any fear. We have already conducted route march in Kundapur, Gangolli, Byndoor and Karkal and today we have conducted it in Udupi. In the coming days 3 more CRPF companies will arrive to Udupi”.
