- Police and Sangh Parivar Activists’ Involvement Proved in Husainabba’s Death Case – G Rajshekar
Udupi: “The service of district police superintendent Laxman Nimbargi, who worked honestly in arresting Bajrang Dal activists in the suspicious death of cattle trader Husainabba in Hiriyadka, should be commended. He has brought out the illegal involvement of the police and the Sangh Parivar activists’ in this case,” said G Rajshekar, president of Karnataka Komu Sahurdha Vedike, Udupi District while speaking at a press meet held at the Press Club here, on June 7.
Rajshekar further said, “Deaths in Udupi district while transporting cattle is not new. Adi Udupi Hajabba case, Barkur Krishnayya Patali’s death, Praveen Poojary’s death in Khenjir near Brahmavar, etc. In every case, Hindu activists had joined hand with the police officers. As a result, they were released within a short period and still involved in such activities.”
“In the coastal district, some policemen have joined hands with the Hindu activists and are actively involved in such activities. Recently, a national media Cobrapost had revealed the truth about the issue. A local BJP MLC had admitted in the Cobrapost operation that ’60 percent of the police are our Karyakarthas’. Three Hiriyadka police recently admitted that they did nothing when Udupi resident 62-year-old Husainabba was being allegedly lynched by Bajrang Dal activists on the suspicion of illegally transporting cattle. The district SP has worked efficiently in this case and proved the illegal connection between the police and Sangh Parivar activists in this case,” he said.
“Now the BJP MLAs and MPs are favouring the accused in this case and are working to protect their workers. They are spreading false rumours in the society that the chief minister has pressurised the district SP to arrest Hindu activists. As people’s representatives, they should uphold the law but they are going against the law which is condemnable. The district SP has been successful in the initial stage. The government should appoint an efficient public prosecutor to argue the case in the court. Only then will the victims get justice,” he added.
Prof Phaniraj, Robert Menezes, Yaseen Malpe, Fr William Martis, Hussain Kodibengre and Cyril Mathias were present in the press meet.
