Police Arrest Five for Throwing Pork Pieces in Nagoor Mosque Compound

Kundapur: The Byndoor police on Sunday, January 20 succeeded in arresting five persons for throwing meat that appeared to be pork, inside the Noor Jamia Juma Mosque compound.

The arrested have been identified as Naveen Kharvi, Raghavendra Kharvi, Sridhar Kharvi, Ravichandra and Nagaraj all residents of Byndoor.

On January 14, at around 10:55 pm, two youth had arrived on a bike and thrown the ear and legs of the pig inside the compound of the Mosque. The incident came to light on January 15 at 5:30 am when Saleem who came for the morning Namaz found the ear and legs of the pig. He immediately informed the Mosque administration committee. The incident was registered in the Mosque CCTV. The Mosque management committee had handed over the CCTV footage to the police.

The District SP Laxman Nimbargi formed a special team under the leadership of ASP Kumarachandra, DySP Kundapur B P Dinesh Kumar, CPI Byndoor Parameshwara Gunaga and PI Byndoor Thimmesh BN to arrest the culprits.

The accused had planned to create communal clashes by throwing pieces of meat in the Mosque compound.

Kundapur Subdivision officials Santhosh Kumar, Santhosh Kharvi, Sridhar, Nagaraj Kharvi, Prince Shiroor, Ramesh Kulal, Krishna Devadiga, Mohan Poojary, Chandrashekar, Nagendra and Shivananda took part in the operation. The District SP has announced Rs 10000 reward to the team
