Police Arrest protesters trying to wave Black Flags to actor Prakash Rai
Udupi: The district police on Tuesday, October 10, foiled an attempt by the activists of various associations to wave black flags at well-known actor, Prakash Rai who arrived to receive the ‘Shivarama Karanth Huttura Prashasti given by the Kotatattu Grama Panchayat.
The award is being conferred on achievers in literature, journalism, education, environment, and Yakshagana. An a-political committee selects the recipient and the award is conferred by the Kotatattu Gram Panchayat.
The members of Akhila Karnataka Natha Pantha Jogi Smaja Seva Samithi, Jai Bhargava Balaga, Hindu Jagarana Vedike etc planned to wave black flags while actor Prakash Rai arrived at the venue.
The district police deployed Hundreds of Police and foiled their attempt to wave black flags and protesters were stopped from entering the venue and were arrested.
Prakash has been subjected to public ire after he had commented against PM Narendra Modi and UP CM Yogi Adityanath following Gauri Lankesh’s murder.
