Police Arrest Two more in Kota Double Murder case
Udupi: The Udupi district Superintendent of Police said that two more persons have been arrested on February 14 in relation to the Kota double murder case.
The arrested are Chandrashekar Reddy (48) a resident of Manoor who was directly involved in the murder and Rathish M Karkera (34) a resident of Brahmagiri.
With the arrest of two more persons, the number of those arrested in the brutal murder of Bharath and Yathish on January 26 has risen to fifteen.
An argument over the construction of a leach pit led to the murder of Bharath (30) and Yathish (25). They were murdered at Cikkanakere, Mannur village in Kota on January 26, and a case was registered in the Kota police station.
The prime accused in the case, Rajashekhar Reddy (44) of Manur village and G Ravi alias Medical Ravi (42), were arrested in Madikeri on February 7. Based on the information given by them, Harish Reddy (40) (the brother of Rajshekhar Reddy), Mahesh Ganiga (38) and Ravi alias Ravichandra Poojary (28) were arrested early Friday, February 8 morning. ZP member Raghavendra Kanchan was arrested on Thursday, February 7 based on the phone calls he had made to the accused before the murder on January 23 and after the murder on the night of January 26. During the inquiry, his involvement in the murder was proved. On Sunday, February 10, police arrested two constables Pavan Amin and Virendra Acharya attached to the DAR (District Armed Reserve), who had provided logistics support to the accused. On February 11 police arrested Abhishek alias Abhi Palan (23) a resident of Subramanya Nagar, Udupi Puttur, Santhosh Kundar (35) a resident of Hanehalli Barkur, Nagaraj alias Rotti Nagaraj (44) resident of Brahmavar, Pranav Rao (20) resident of Bhadravathi and Shanker Mogaveera (40) resident of Anjaru.
Both the accused were produced before the Kundapur court and remanded to police custody until February 15.
