Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal Issues 4 Detention Orders under Goonda Act
Mangaluru: To conduct, the Lok Sabha elections 2024 peacefully and fairly, based on guidelines of the Election Commission, Mangaluru City Police Commissionerate has been implementing preventive measures to maintain public peace and order within its jurisdiction. As part of this, 4 detention orders have been issued under “Karnataka Prevention of Dangerous Activities of Bootleggers, Drug Offenders, Gamblers, Goondas, Immoral Traffic Offenders, Slum Grabbers and Video or Audio Pirates Act, 1985 (Karnataka Act No.12 of 1985) (Goonda Act/ Preventive Detention Act), against following persons
Hemachandra @ Prajwal Poojary (29) from Amblamogaeu Village, presently residing at Ullal. A total of 17 cases have been registered against him in Mulki, Ullala, Mangaluru South, Mangaluru Rural, Kankanady Town police stations limits of Mangaluru City Police Commissionerate and Bantwal Town PS of DK District. Amongst them are 3 assault cases, 2 rioting cases, 4 attempts to murder cases, 1 murder case, 1 kidnap case, 1 robbery, 1 theft, 3 Drug trafficking and 1 illegal possession of Arms cases.
Nawaz @ Nawwa @ Mudipu Nawaz (36) from Kairangala Village, Ullal
A total of 13 cases have been registered against him in Konaje, Ullala, Mulky and Surathkal police stations limits of Mangaluru City Police Commissionerate. Amongst them are 5 assault cases, 3 attempts to murder cases, 1 Kidnap & rape 2 Drug trafficking, 1 Cow Slaughtering and 1 Cheating case.
Aneesh Ashraf (26) from Kudroli. A total of 18 cases have been registered against him in Mangaluru South, North, East, Barke and Kankanady Town police station limits of Mangaluru City Police Commissionerate. Amongst them are 7 attempts to murder cases, 3 Drug Trafficking & Consuming, 1 Theft, 1 Illegal possession of Arms, 3 Rioting, 2 assaults on public servants and 1 Cheating case.
4. Charan @ Charan Shet @ Charan Pal (39) from Kulur. A total of 11 cases have been registered against him in Barke, Urwa and Panambour police stations limits of Mangaluru City Police Commissionerate. Amongst them are 2 assault cases, 1 rioting case, 2 attempts to murder cases, 2 murder cases, 1 kidnap case, 2 attempts to robbery, and 1 extortion case.
They all have been arrested for several crimes registered against them and remanded to judicial custody, after coming out on bail they have continued to indulge in criminal and anti-social activities which are detrimental to public order. It was therefore very necessary to initiate action against them and detain them under the provision of section 8 of the Karnataka Prevention of Dangerous Activities of Bootleggers, Drug Offenders, Gamblers, Goondas, Immoral Traffic Offenders, Slum Grabbers and Video or Audio Pirates Act 1985(Karnataka Act No.12 of 1985).
