Police Commissioner T R Suresh Inaugurates Navaratri Utsav at Kudroli

Mangaluru: The auspicious Navaratri Utsav was inaugurated at Shree Gokarnanatha Kshetra, Kudroli here on September 21.

Police commissioner T R Suresh inaugurated the Navaratri Utsav at the Kudroli temple by lighting the traditional lamp along with other dignitaries.

After the inauguration speaking to the mediapersons T R Suresh said, “In Dakshina Kannada district Navaratri Mahotsava is celebrated with grandeur. People have gathered here with discipline to celebrate the festival. The police department has made efficient security arrangements to maintain law and order situation throughout the Navarathri Utsav. I wish all the people of Dakshina Kannada a very happy festival. Let us celebrate the festival as per our custom and tradition and understand the spirit of the festival”.

Mayor Kavitha Sanil speaking to mangalorean.com said, “Today the Goddess Sharada has been erected and the Navarathri Utsav at Shree Gokarnanatha Kshetra has begun. If we compare the Dasara Mahotsava in Mysuru, devotees from all over the country come to Kudroli to take part in the Dasara Mahotsava. At the Kudroli Temple, Nine Goddesses have been erected and Puja’s are offered for 9 days. It is only in Kudroli Temple the Navadurghes are erected and Pujas are offered. I too fast for 9 days consuming only water. Navarathri is my favourite festival for which I live only on water for 9 days and on the 9th day I go to Kateel Temple to break my fast by having food there.”

ACP Uday Nayak, H S Sairam, Padmaraj R, B K Taranath, Ravishanker Mijar, Malathi Janardhan Poojary, and others were also present.
