Police crack Anegudde Temple Devotees’ Gold Theft Case

Kundapur: In a swift operation, the Kundapur Police on Saturday, April 22, detained ten persons in connection with the theft of gold jewellery items of a tourist in Anegudde temple.

The arrested persons have been identified as Raghavendra (24), Ghouse Mohiuddin (35) of Savanoor, Ravi (32), Raju (35), Netra (27), Lakkavva (50) residents of Gadag, Sharada (30), Dakshayani (24), Gangavva (40) and Shruthi (26).

The police have recovered 303 grams of gold, Rs 7000 cash and a Toofan vehicle from the accused.

According to the police On Thursday, April 19, Joythi a lady from Bengaluru visited Shri Vinayaka Temple Anegudde to offer Puja. After she completed the Puja and while receiving the prasadam, thieves snatched gold and cash from her bag. She later approached the Kundapur Police and filed the complaint.

The Kundapur Police immediately rushed to the temple and collected the necessary information about the incident and also checked the CCTV footage of the Temple. The theft was recorded on the Temple’s CCTV. Meanwhile, a person of the area had noted the thief’s vehicle number and handed it over to the Kundapur Police. The police immediately started to trace the vehicle and succeeded in arresting the accused on Saturday at Moodigere of Chikkamagaluru district.

Under the direction of K T Balakrishna SP and Vishnuvaradhan ASP Udupi, DySP Kundapur Praveen Naik, CPI Manjappa D R, PSI Naseer Husain, Crime PSI Devaraj, PC’s Raghavendra, Joythi, Nagendra, Sachin Shetty, Santhosh Shridhar and others took part in the operation.
