Udupi: Police should function within the legal parameters to serve justice to the society said Retired ANF SP and Udupi district ASP Santosh Kumar. He was speaking on the Police Flag Day celebrations organized by the district police at Chandu Maidan here on April 2.
Functioning within legal parameters will serve the real purpose of providing justice. The marginalized and poor should be assisted with compassion. Government of Karnataka has formulated various policies for the welfare of police personnel which includes free ration, canteen facilities, Arogya Bhagya and Retired Police Officers Welfare fund, he added.
Annamalai, District Superintendent of Police said that 61 retired police personnel have been given cheques for medical benefits and education worth 8.2 lakh. This aims at filling new spirit and confidence among the retired police personnel. The department is always with them. He also said that DySP Kundapur Sub-Division M Manjunath Shetty and Wireless PSI Mohan will be receiving Chief Minister’s medal in Bengaluru today.
Santosh Kumar accepted the guard of honour and later released the police flag to commemorate the Police Flag Day. The parade was led by RPI DAR S Sheenappa Naik.
Annamalai distributed cheques to 61 retired police personnel on the occasion.
Annamalai welcomed the gathering, Udupi sub-division DySP SJ Kumarswamy delivered the vote of thanks. In-charge PSI Control Room B Manmohan Rao compered the programme.
