Police Handover Movable Assets of Shiroor Math to Dwandwa Sode Math
Udupi: The Udupi police handed over the movable assets of the Shiroor Math in Udupi to the Dwandwa Sode Math Seer Sri Vishwavallabha Theertha Swamiji on August 1.
The Shiroor Math in Udupi and the Base Math in Shiroor have been cordoned off by the police following the suspicious death of Shiroor Math Lakshmivara Theertha Swamiji on July 19.
The assets, including valuable gold ornaments, puja materials and silver ornaments were shifted by the police from the original Math in Shiroor to the Udupi Shiroor Math. Later, the mahajar was conducted in the presence of the police. The valuables were kept in the locker of the Shiroor Math in Udupi.
Since no successor has yet been appointed to the Shiroor Math, the Dwandwa Sode Math will look into the administration of the Shiroor Math until a successor is appointed.
The Shiroor Swamiji was wearing a huge amount of gold jewellery and also had a very old collection of rare items at his Moola Math. The Assets include Swamiji’s Jewellery, God’s Jewellery, Puja items and other valuables.
Town PSI Anantha Padmanabha, Sode Math Diwana Srinivas Thantri, Rathnakumar, Shiroor Math’s Appu Thantri, Vittal Bhat and others were present while handing over the assets.
