Police Open Fire At Accused Bhavith Raj In Self Defense at Adyar

Mangaluru: The police opened fire at the accused in Silvergate vehicle driver assault case after he assaulted the police Inspector at Adyarkatte here on July 9.

According to the police on July 9, police Inspector Ashok along with the ACP and his team came to Adyar Gudde to arrest Bhavith Raj, the accused in the vehicle driver assault case. The accused Bhavith Raj was accompanied by Sanath and Sandesh and were travelling in a car bearing registration number KA 19 MG 2716 at Adyarkatte. The Kankanady police waylaid the car Bhuvith and the other accused were travelling. When head constable Vinod went near the car to arrest Bhavith, the accused stabbed him.

Sensing danger Police Inspector Ashok opened fire at Bhavith Raj who was injured in the leg. Both the injured have been shifted to the hospital for treatment.

Police commissioner Sandeep Patil, DCP Law and order Hanumantharaya and DCP crime and traffic Lakshmi Ganesh visited the spot for further investigations. The forensic team also arrived at the spot.

It has been once again reiterated that strict action as per law will be taken against those who try to take the law in their hands. The police have identified the accused through the CCTV footage. There were altogether four accused in the vehicle driver assault case in Silvergate. The first accused Bhavith Raj is a rowdy sheeter and 8 cases have been filed against him in various police stations.

The second accused Sandesh has 2 cases, he is also the accused in the Basheer murder case under the Kavoor Police Station limits. The third accused in the assault case is Sanath and the fourth accused is Ashwath whose motorbike was used for the crime. The police have also recovered the motorbike.
