Police recover missing Shiroor Math’s CCTV DVR in Swarna River!

Udupi: Police officials investigating the death of Lakshmivara Theertha Swamiji of Shiroor Math, have managed to recover one of the two digital video recorders (DVR) of the CCTV cameras in Shiroor math that had gone missing.

Sources said that officials are still looking for the other DVR. The missing DVRs of the CCTV footage are from the day Lakshmivara was first admitted in the hospital. The DVR was recovered from the Swarna River on Wednesday, but the police have not confirmed the same.

It is said that, with the help of divers, the police had carried out a search operation in the river near the math.

The police have expressed the possibility that close associates of the Swamiji might have thrown the DVR to divert the investigation in the Swamiji’s mysterious death case.

On the other hand, the daily puja rituals at the Shiroor original Math commenced on Wednesday. The deity was offered ‘akki naivedya,’ said sources in the Math.

After the death of the Swamiji, the police have cordoned off the main Math but have allowed the daily puja in the morning and evening.

The entry of devotees inside the Math is prohibited. Only two priests, one staff member and another staf for cleaning work are allowed inside the Math.
