Police Register case of Unnatural Death of Journalist Rohit Raj
Udupi: The Manipal Police have registered a case of unnatural death in the alleged suicide of Mangaluru based Journalist Rohit Raj who was found dead under suspicious circumstances at his flat in Manipal on Wednesday, January 1.
In a press release, the district police have stated that on 31st December Rohit Raj, who had launched the first cable news channel in Mangaluru was staying with a woman Rooma Sahani from Kolkata at an apartment in Manipal. Rohit Raj had come to reside in the flat just two months back. He was upset over his marital life and had applied for divorce.
Rohit Raj and the woman had celebrated the New Year at a hotel in Kadiyali. On returning home both reportedly had a quarrel. Rohit Raj attempted to commit suicide by hanging but collapsed and died. The woman rushed Rohit Raj to the hospital with the help of the security guard of the building but the doctors at the hospital pronounced Rohit Raj brought dead.
Additional SP Kumarchandra, DySP Udupi, forensic department doctors of KMC Manipal visited the spot. The Police are waiting for the post-mortem report and FSL Report to know the exact cause of the death.
