Police Seize 10 Tons Rice along with Truck and Bolero at Hiriyadka
Udupi: The DCIB Police in a joint operation with the Civil Supplies Department officials on March 13, nabbed a person on charges of transporting rice illegally.
The arrested has been identified as CP Shafiq (36) a resident of Calicut. Another prime accused Rajesh Nayak escaped during the raid.
The police seized 380 Bags of rice (10 tons), One Truck and a Bolero Pick Up from their possession.
Police said that acting on a tip-off, they conducted raids and intercepted two vehicles at Hiriyadka and arrested the accused.
Under the direction of SP Nisha James, Additional SP Kumarchandra and DySP Udupi T R Jai Shanker, the team led by Kiran PSI DCIB along with ASI Ravichandra, staff Suresh, Santhosh Kundar, Chandra Shetty, Ramu Hegde, Raghavendra Uppunda, Raj Kumar, Dayananda Prabhu, Shivananda and driver Raghavendra took part in the operation.
