Police and Students hold Awareness Rally against use of Drugs in Udupi District

Udupi: As a special initiative by Dr Sanjeev Patil, an awareness rally was taken out across the district by the police personnel and students on Friday, October 13 against the use of drugs.

Various school students took out a rally on the main roads across the district carrying placards to create awareness on the negative effects of using drugs. 20 schools from across the district took part in the rally.

According to the police department a large number of youth from various States and other countries reside in Udupi district to pursue their education. Through such awareness drives, the police hope to reduce the exposure of youth to drugs. We try to create awareness to the public through this rally on the ill-effects of drug abuse and illegal trafficking. It is part of an exercise to muster the support of youth to prevent the menace of drugs.

Use of drugs would not only affect their health but induce them to indulge in criminal activities and lower their stature in the society. Prevention of drug abuse would ensure the well-being of children and youth, their families and the society. While saying ‘no’ to drugs, the students should also create awareness of the disastrous effects of drugs.
