Police Take Action against SIM Card Violation
Mangaluru: Police raided various Mobile sim card selling shops for not following the set rules, on September 13.
While issuing SIM cards, the SIM providers fail to take proper documents of the person. There are many rules that the SIM providers should follow such as collecting photographs of the applicant, address proof, passport copy or any other documents for permanent address proof and the signature of the customer on the application.
Because of negligence by the SIM card providers, SIM cards have been misused by criminals, and the customers face problems. The police have also seized documents from the SIM card providers.
In the RTI activist Vinayak Baliga’s murder case, the accused Shailesh alias Shailu and Shivaprasad had used SIM cards which were registered in some other person name. Cases have already been registered against them and also the SIM card providers.
Police have also advised people to take precautionary measures while purchasing a new SIM card.
