Police Working as Bridge between Judiciary and Public – District Judge Venkatesha Naika

Udupi: The district and sessions judge and the district Law service Authority Chairman, Venkatesha Naika said that the police are working as a bridge between the Judiciary and the public and have a great responsibility to maintain law and order in the society.

He was speaking after inaugurating the day-long workshop for the district police organized by the district legal service authority Udupi district on Tuesday, June 19 at the District police office.

If the police fail to investigate any criminal cases properly, then innocent people will go behind the bars. So the police should investigate all cases properly and without any pressure. During the investigation of cases the investigation officer should adhere to appropriate legal procedures otherwise the culprits will be easily released. If there are legal conflicts, the investigation officer should take the help of district prosecutors and judges

People move court when they fail to get justice from the police, the law enforcing agency. Police personnel should be justice-conscious and sincere to their profession to attain public trust in them, he said.

There is a need for improved coordination between the police and the judiciary in the interest of the litigant public. The police should discharge their duties in a manner which does not cause trouble to the litigants.

Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Marry Francis said that the judiciary system, police department and department of woman and child development are working with co-ordination in giving justice in cases of atrocities against women in the district. In many cases, people are filing false complaints, the police should investigate the cases in the right way, she said.

The district police superintendent Laxman B Nimbargi presided over the function.

Latha Senior civil Judge and member secretary district legal service authority Udupi, Vivekananda S Pandith Senior Civil Judge Udupi, Ratnakar Shetty president Udupi Bar Association were present on the occasion.
