Politicians Raking Up on Rd Renaming is Mere Election Gimmicks’-St Aloysius Rector

Politicians and members of other organizations Raking Up on the Renaming of the Road stretch between Dr Ambedkar Circle {Jyothi Circle} and Hampankatta is Mere Election Gimmicks’-St Aloysius Institutions Rector Fr Dionysius Vaz Sj

Mangaluru: Once again the topic on the road renaming of Light House Hill Road as ” St Aloysius College Road” as sought by the management of St Aloysius Institutions-Mangaluru; whereas the Vijaya Bank Workers’ Organization members insist that the said LHH Road be named after “Mulky Sunder Ram Shetty Road” has taken a controversial stand- with politicians and others delivering their speeches at Press meets stating that the LHH Rd will soon be Mulky Sunder Ram Shetty Road- which we all have to believe ONLY when it happens?

Clarifying on all the blah..blah..blah…by the politicians in order to mind boggle the voters and for gaining a few extra votes, in a statement sent to Team Mangalorean, signed by Fr Dionysius Vaz Sj- Rector of St Aloysius Institutions, and Fr Praveen Martis Sj- Principal of St Aloysius College {Autonomous}-Mangaluru mentions that -“The said road naming issue is pending before the Hon’ble High Court of Karnataka. The Writ Petition filed by the Vijaya Bank Workers’ Organization had been dismissed by the High Court of Karnataka. Later, when a Writ appeal was filed, the High Court of Karnataka, while admitting the appeal, has Ordered that during the pendency of Writ appeal, status-quo as regards the name of the road as on May 24, 2017, shall continue.”

It further states, “Interpreting this as the final Order of the Court is highly misleading and motivated. No organization can erect any name board, organize any inauguration function, etc during the pendency of the appeal. St Aloysius College has filed an appeal to accept it as an impleader in the case. Mangalore City Corporation cannot grant permission for any such move. The college has issued notices to the City Corporation and Vijaya Bank Retired Workers’ Organization in this regard. In spite of the matter being sub-judice, some politicians are making irresponsible statements. Such statements are mere election gimmicks. When the issue is pending for hearing in the Hon’ble High Court, any political statement or any provocative statement with an eye on election amounts to contempt of Court. St Aloysius management will bring all such public statements to the attention of the High Court for necessary action.”

Okay, now that the management of St Aloysius College has made it clear where this Road Naming Issue stands through their above statement- then why are all these politicians and members of other organizations spitting out venom of hate and also bringing in directly or indirectly the involvement of one of the hard-working, sincere, dedicated and committed MLA that this City has ever produced, J R Lobo, by accusing him with unwanted allegations- which is not right. Why all these press meets when only 48 hours are left before the poll? Why bring in the name of MLA J R Lobo in this controversial issue?

We all agree that MLA J R Lobo did oblige the Jesuit priests and the management of St Aloysius College when they approached him for help in sorting out the road renaming problem. So as a good friend of the Jesuit priests and also from the same community, it was the duty of an MLA to help them out to come to a certain point where this situation could be handled in a peaceful manner in due time- and so it was right on his part for his quick action. Which probably any other MLA would help out if the same kind of issue came up in their community. These are silly issues to be ignored when the election is near, and not to slam or pound on an MLA who has done so many good things.. but unfortunately did, ONLY ONE quick decision {You know what I am talking about?}, which was done not INTENTIONALLY, I guess. Period.

So anyway, only a few hours are left for all those are anxiously waiting to VOTE- and please don’t consider this Road Renaming issue against any MLA or candidates contesting in the Assembly elections. Look at the other good work He/they have done, and completely forget about this negative remarks put on a person about the involvement in this Road Renaming issue. Anyways, let’s be cool and caste our vote COOLY! And until LHH Road is rechristened to a different name, the Post Man will still consider the present LHH Road as “Light House Hill Road”. So why make all this FUSS now?

Tit-For-Tat! This is WHAT Vijaya Bank Workers’ Organization Members have to SAY during a Press Meet Today?

Addressing the media persons during a press meet held at Mangalore Press Club today, 9 May 2018, M Sudhakar Shetty- President of Vijaya Bank Retired Workers’ Organization said, ” Whatever statements given by the management of St Aloysius College in the recent press release circulated to the media is not true. We have got all the documents and approval from the concerned authorities/departments, and we can rename the Light House Hill Road to “Mulky Sunder Ram Shetty ” road anytime we want, but we are waiting for a reply from the legal council officials and the Mangaluru City Corporation”.

“It is not right to do what the management of St Aloysius College did. Even after the Vijaya Bank Workers Organization and its other supporting associations had got the approval from the Karnataka High Court to go ahead and rename the road to Mukly Sunder Ram Shetty Road, but St Aloysius College management put a stay order on it, with the help of a local MLA and other politicians. But on 29-9-2017, the HC had issued orders that the road could be renamed as ‘Mulky Sunder Ram Shetty Road”, and we will go ahead with the orders in renaming the road soon, once all procedures are finalized.” said Shetty.

“We have also got the permission to have the Road Renaming Programme, but due to the elections that came in between we are not getting the right answer to go ahead with our road renaming programme. Anyways we will, and for sure, the present Light House Hill Road will very soon be “Mulky Sunder Ram Shetty Road”. You can take my words and count on it. We are 100 percent confident that LHH road will be rechristened to Mulky Sunder Ram Shetty Road in the nearest future,” added Shetty..

Sanjeev Adyar, Laxmi Narayan Shetty, T Sadhashiv Rai, Rajarama Shetty and Pradeep Hegde- all Committee members of Vijaya Bank Retired Workers’ Organization were present on the dais during the press meet.
