Lisbon, May 2 (IANS) Portugal head coach Fernando Santos has denied that the physical problems suffered by Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo are cause for alarm for the national football team.
In an interview released on Monday by Portuguese news agency Lusa, Santos explained that he was worried when he watched the striker complaining and leaving the pitch during the La Liga game against Villarreal, reports Efe.
Santos indicated that he has been informed of the situation and it is not alarming.
The coach acknowledged that he hopes Ronaldo can win the UEFA Champions League title with Real Madrid this season, though this will require physical effort from the Portuguese player.
Ronaldo was the top scorer of his national team in the qualifying games for the UEFA Euro 2016 with five goals.
Santos revealed that he wants to win the Euro 2016, although he acknowledged that other rivals will be looking to claim the title.
