Post Centenary Silver Jubilee of St Joseph Church Borimar inaugurated
Bantwal: The post centenary silver jubilee of St Joseph Church, Borimar was inaugurated with great grandeur by Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, the Apostolic Administrator of Mangalore Diocese on 4th September.
The holy Eucharistic celebrations presided by Bishop Aloysius marked the beginning of the Jubilee year celebrations. Dr Mark Castelino, Vicar Forane of Mogarnad Deanery and other priests of the diocese concelebrated the high mass.
In his homily, the Bishop said, “A church is a gift of God, a worship place where the faithful can join to thank the Lord. We all need to thank the Lord for his endless blessing showered on us and rejoice for these glorious 125 years as He has protected us in his mercy.”
After the mass, the Bishop released the Jubilee logo and wished the best to the parishioners. To commemorate this occasion the Bishop then laid the foundation for the new building of St Joseph English Medium School and then inaugurated the YCS stall of religious articles. An elaborative history of the parish was read out by Roshan Martis, vice president of the Parish Council.
Parish Priest Fr Gregory Pereira, Former Parish priest Fr Melwin Noronha, Vice President of the Parish Council Roshan Martis, Secretary of the Parish Council Preethi Pereira and other dignitaries along with a large gathering of parish community were present during the occasion. The celebrations ended with a sumptuous meal.
