Postal Employees stage Protest demanding Better Emoluments
Udupi: As a nationwide protest the Postal Employee’s Union, Udupi division staged a protest in front of the head post office here on March 16 demanding better emoluments.
Speaking on the occasion Bhaskar Shetty president of the Union said that the protest is in support of a 21-point charter of demands which includes revision of minimum wage from Rs 18000 to Rs 26000 for Central Government employees. A group of senior cabinet ministers had assured that a committee would be constituted. “All anomalies arising out of the implementation of the 7th CPC recommendations remain unsettled. There is no improvement in the issues relating to Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS), casual, contract workers and daily mazdoors. The GDS Committee Report submitted to the Government on November 24, 2016, is yet to be published. Even if it is published, it may take some time for implementation. The four-month time frame fixed for the Allowance Committee has already been extended to six months, he added.
