If Prabhakar Bhat Responsible for Kalladka Violence he should be arrested – Kumaraswamy

Mangaluru: ‘One or the other incident takes place here. Last time it was the Quraishi assault, now it is Kalladka violence. The Muslim fraternity observes the Holy Month of Ramadan. In Kalladka from one week, there is violence. The Police are creating fear among the women by entering houses in the night. If the district minister in-charge has sufficient proof and advises the police to arrest Prabhakar Bhat, the police should follow his instructions. Because without any evidence the Minister will not advise the police officers to arrest Prabhakar Bhat”, said the State President of JD(S) H D Kumaraswamy in a press meet held at Hotel Moti Mahal here on June 18.

Addressing the mediapersons Kumaraswamy said, “If we see the attitude of both the national parties, we doubt whether there is a fixing between the Congress and BJP in Dk. Both the national parties should not facilitate communal violence in the district. Instead, they should think of the farmers. In Dakshina Kannada, the farmers have not got the support price for their produce. They should dedicate their time for the welfare of the farmers. In Mangaluru there was rain last week and the water was flowing on the roads. The elected representatives should think of the people and their safety. They should concentrate on solving the problems of the people”.

Kumaraswamy further said, “I would like to give clarification regarding the No-trust resolution against Legislative Council Chairman D H Shankaramurthy. In the beginning, no one contacted the JD(S). The Speaker and Deputy Speakers selection was decided in 2014 and that the Speaker post would go to the BJP and Deputy speaker would be from the JD(S). We did not support the BJP but the Congress leaders took the JD(S) leaders for granted. The Congress party was not in contact with us. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had said that the Congress does not need support from the JD(S). But when the Congress realized that there is a need of the JD(S) support they came to us in a hurry. Yeddyurappa wanted Shankaramurthy to lose and the Congress to win. But it did not happen that way. JD(S) does not need the support of any party and we will not make any agreement with any party. In Karnataka, the Congress and BJP need the JD(S) but we do not need their support. We will never compromise with the BJP at any cost”.

“In the BBMP elections Congress and BJP did not have the majority but with the support of JD(S), the Congress is ruling in Bengaluru. We have not said that we will remain as a slave to the Congress. In Gundlupet and Nanjangudu since we did not contest the elections, the Congress won in those two constituencies. CM Siddaramaiah had thanked JD(S) for not contesting in those two constituencies but now he is criticizing the JD(S). CM Siddaramaiah is the most communal Chief minister I have ever seen in Karnataka.”

JD(S) State General Secretary B M Farooq, Bojegowda, M V Sadashiv, Vasanth Poojary, Dhanraj and Akshith Suvarna were also present.
