Prakash Ambedkar’s RPI to Contest 20 Seats in Karnataka Assembly polls

Udupi: Republican Party of India founded by Dr B R Ambekdar is keen to contest at least 20 seats in the upcoming Assembly polls in Karnataka and hopes to win some seats said Mohan Raj president of the Karnataka Unit.

He was speaking at a press meet held at the press club on Monday, April 2. The BJP leadership is trying to subvert the principles of equality and fraternity enshrined in the Constitution. On the other hand another national party, the Congress is also acting against the constitution. All the mainstream political parties have failed to uphold the ideas of the constitution of Indian. That is why we should make every effort to remove them from power, he said.

The party chief Prakash Ambedkar has finalized the list of 10 contestants for the assembly elections. The remaining 10 will be finalized soon. In the first round, 10 contestants including Udupi constituency will be made out. The ten contestants are Ankush Gokhale (Humanbad), Shekar Havanje (Udupi), Parashuram Nilanayak (Bagalkote), Shasthri Hosamani (Babaleshwara), Muktham Shah Ali Nandaf (Vijayanagar), S Shivalingam, (Kolar), R Mohan Raj (Bengaluru City), H B Devaraj (Piriyapattana) and Eerappa M Kasan (Yadagiri). The remaining list of ten contestants will be announced by Prakash Ambedkar soon, he added.

Aam Aadami Party. Welfare Party of India and the CPI have expressed their desire to tie up with the RPI for the assembly polls. The Constitution drafted by a committee headed by B.R. Ambedkar guarantees right to life and liberty to all. It strives for equality and opposes discrimination based on caste, creed, gender, religion, region or language. But the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre is trying to divide the country into these lines. It is also trying to snatch the social security net around the deprived classes by diluting or deleting provisions like reservation and equal representation. It is a wake-up call. Dalits and Adivasi voters should remember such injustice during the next elections and work against the rise of the rightist forces and support RPI in the coming assembly polls in Karnataka, he said.

RPI Udupi assembly candidate Shekar Havanje, Vishwanath Bellampalli, Damayanthi, Vittal Havanje and Abubakkar K were present during the press meet.
