Pramod inaugurates Golden Jubilee building of Thenkanidiyur Govt High School

Udupi: The inauguration of the golden jubilee memorial new building of Thenkanidiyur Government High School was held on Saturday, January 7.

 

 

The programme began with an invocation by the school students, Prakhyath Shetty Belkalae president of the Golden Jubilee and Decennial celebrations Committee of Thenkanidiyur Government High School and PU College welcomed the gathering.

Pramod Madhwaraj district minister in-charge and also Minister for state fisheries, Youth empowerment and sports inaugurated the golden jubilee memorial new building of Thenkanidiyur Government High School by cutting the ribbon. The stage programme was inaugurated by Sri Vidyavallabha Tirtha Swamiji of Kaniyoor Math by lighting the lamp.

Speaking on the occasion minister Pramod Madhwaraj said that the Siddaramaiah led congress government is committed to providing quality education to each and every student of the state. The State government has worked a lot on the development of infrastructure. The Thenkanidiyur College has become an education hub today. Students can get K G to PG education under one roof in Thenkanidiyur. On the occasion of the golden jubilee of the high school, the new high school building has been constructed at a cost of Rs 55 lakh. After becoming the MLA of Udupi constituency I have brought Rs 6 crore additional grant for the Thenkanidiyur college development. A lot of development work has taken place in the education sector in the past three years. Everyone concerned should work towards ensuring quality education, he added.

To mark the Golden Jubilee of the High School and decennial celebrations of the PU college, the minister released a souvenir on the occasion. Dr H Siddeshwarappa principal PU College and Jayaprakash HM high school section presented the College and High School reports respectively.

Sri Vidyavallabha Tirtha Swamiji of Kaniyoor Math in his message said that teachers should not ignore their responsibility of shaping the careers of children. Besides imparting academic knowledge to students, they should provide moral education too, he added.

Fr Francis Cornelio parish priest of St Ann’s Church Thottam said that moral education with an emphasis on Indian tradition and culture should be part of the curriculum in all educational institutions. Teachers and parents should maintain a good relationship and guide children in a proper way to achieve their goals, which contributes to the development of the country, he added.
