Pramod Madhwaraj flag-off Udupi-Shivamogga KSRTC bus service
Udupi: The Low floor KSRTC city bus service between Udupi- Shivamoogga was flagged off on Wednesday, May 31 at the KSRTC bus-stand here.
Pramod Madhwaraj district minister in-charge flagged off the new Low floor KSRTC city bus service between Udupi and Shivamoogga.
Speaking on the occasion Pramod Madhwaraj said that people of Udupi district have whole heartedly welcomed the government bus service. The students and the aged persons of the district are happy with the KSRTC bus service. The RTO has issued 55 permits in a single meeting; it was a historical step which was taken by the Udupi RTO. Already 39 buses are plying in the rural areas of Udupi district. The remaining buses are expected to operate soon. The government wanted both the private and public sector buses to co-operate and provide services to the people. KSRTC and the private buses should work together in giving good service to the passengers.
Tenders worth Rs 4 crore had been floated for the construction of a city bus stand for the low-floor government city buses at the Old DDPI Office area. A KSRTC Inter-district Bus Stand would be constructed at a cost of Rs 30 crore at Bannaje. At the same time three modern bus-stands in Udupi, Malpe and Manipal will be constructed under the Directorate of Urban Land Transport project, he added.
Meanwhile minister Pramod flagged off the Low floor KSRTC city bus service between Udupi-Kodibengre, Udupi-Honnala, Udupi-Pethri and Udupi-Kokkarne.
Congress leader Janardhan Bhandarkar, Veronica Cornelio, Chandrika Shetty, Dr Sunitha Shetty, Sudhakar Shetty and others were present.
