Pramod Madhwaraj Inaugurates Coastal Karnataka’s First Atal Tinkering Lab
Udupi: Coastal Karnataka’s first Atal Tinkering Laboratory (ATL) was opened at the Government composite School Volakadu Udupi here on Friday, September 23.
Pramod Madhwaraj District minister in-charge inaugurated the Atal Tinkering Laboratory.
Speaking on the occasion Pramod Madhwaraj said that The lab has been set up under the Atal Innovation Mission of Niti Aayog. Under the mission, the Union government plans to establish such labs in schools across the country. The main aim is to create scientific temper and cultivate the spirit of curiosity and innovation in young minds. ATL is a workspace where students can give shape to their ideas in hands-on, do-it-yourself mode. The vision is to create one million children in India as modern innovators, he added.
The Government composite School Volakadu is the only school from Udupi and Dakshina Kannada district, selected for setting up the prestigious Atal Tinkering Laboratories (ATL) as part of the Union government’s Atal Innovation Mission initiative under NITI Aayog.
To foster creativity and scientific temper among students, Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) will establish 500 Atal Tinkering Laboratories in schools across the country. It will provide one-time establishment grant-in-aid of Rs 10 lakh for establishing the Atal Tinkering Laboratories (ATL) in schools (grade VI – XII) across India.
Education officer Divakar Shetty, school management members Indu Ramanand Bhat, Geetha Shet, Amrith Shenoy, Umadevi and others were present.
