Pramod Madhwaraj inaugurates district-level Janaspandana

Udupi: The district-level Janaspandana programme was held at the Town Hall Udupi here, on July 26. The programme began with an invocation. Priyanka Mary Francis, acting DC of Udupi, district welcomed the gathering.

The state government introduced E-Janaspandana recently to register public grievances across all departments. Any person having complaints or grievances about the functioning of any government department can electronically register complaints after logging on to the web portal. The portal has been designed so that the emails are automatically sorted to reach the person in the department tasked with carrying out remedial measures and to initiate action. The state government also decided to open Bapuji Seva Kendras in the Gram Panchayats wherein 100 different services provided by various departments can be availed by the rural population, she added.

Pramod Madhwaraj district minister in-charge and Minister of Fisheries, Sports and Youth Affairs inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp.

In his message, Pramod Madhwaraj said that after the swearing-in ceremony of the new ministers, chief minister Siddaramaiah held a cabinet meeting and directed all the district in-charge ministers to hold district-level ‘Janaspandana’ meetings to hear the grievances of party workers and the public. “I have decided to hold a Hobli-level janaspandana meetings in the coming days,” said Madhwaraj.

He further said that the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government has introduced many pro-people programmes in the last 3 years. “When Siddaramaiah took charge as the Chief Minister of Karnataka, he had announced the Anna Bhagya scheme for BPL card holders. A subsidy of Rs 4 is being provided to milk producers. Students of government and aided schools are being provided with milk 3 days a week under the Ksheera Bhagya scheme. The government has distributed BPL cards for the poor and 10,000 BPL ration cards have been distributed in my own constituency.”

Recently, the government introduced Bapuji Seva Kendra’s at the Gram Panchayat level. Under this scheme, citizens can apply for income certificates, caste certificates, Record of Rights, Tenancy and Crops (RTCs), landholding certificates among others by paying a nominal fee. Besides, they can pay their electricity bills and property tax at these centres. “The scheme will help people get access to 100 services within their panchayat limits, which were restricted to only taluk offices. Government officers should not waste government funds. The funds should reach the people of the district,” added Madhwaraj.

Later, the minister listened to the grievances of the public and directed the concerned officials to solve them. The minister also distributed cheques to beneficiaries of various government schemes on the occasion.

Meenakshi Madhava Bannaje (president, Udupi CMC), Sandhya Thilaka Raj (vice-president, CMC), Githanjali Suvarna, Janardhan Thonse, Mairmadi Sudhakar Shetty (Zilla Panchayat members), Nalini Pradeep (Taluk Panchayat president), Ashwathi (AC, Kundapur), Annamalai (SP, Udupi), Anurandha (ADC, Udupi) and others were present.
