Pramod Madhwaraj inaugurates Fisheries DD office in Malpe

Udupi: The government of Karnataka has allocated rupees 157 crores for providing diesel subsidy to fishermen said Minister for Sports, Youth Affairs, Fisheries and Minister in-charge district Pramod Madhwaraj. He was speaking after inaugurating the deputy directors office of Fisheries department at Malpe here on April 14.

The government will be releasing the pending diesel subsidy of 2.5 months. The department has released rupees 7 crores for the payment of interest for the loans of fisherwomen.

Fishermen should obtain a feasible certificate by rectifying errors. The passbook and registration certificates should be obtained as henceforth the regulation on diesel subsidy payments will be enforced. A nodal officer is appointed to check on the diesel subsidy.

The tender process is initiated for the jetty and a proposal of 10 crores is sent to the NABARD for the construction of A wall near the Padukere bridge.

The new DD office at Malpe is a demand since 20 years which has now been set up to promote the welfare of the fishing community.

CMC President Meenakshi Madhav Bannanje, TP President Nalini Pradeep Rao, UUDA President Narashim Murthy, Hiriyanna Kediyoor and others were present.
