Udupi: As a part of IT modernization scheme for the department of posts Pramod Madhwaraj MLA of Udupi and also parliamentary secretary for Revenue department inaugurated the post office savings bank ATM at the Head Post office and Manipal Post Office on Saturday March 19.
Pramod Madhwaraj in his inaugural message said that I am happy to inaugurate the Postal ATM centre in Udupi which was introduced by the previous UPA government. Postal department is the only department which the public have faith and trust. He urged the people to make use of the ATM.
George Samuel secretary of Pensioners Association was the first to transact from his pension account using the ATM card.
Division senior superintendent of post offices Rajshekar Bhat said that Sixty two post offices in Udupi division has migrated to core banking facility. The core banking facility will allow people to carry out transactions from any of the networked post offices across the State once the process of core banking facility is complete.
All the sub post offices and branch offices will migrate to core banking solutions in a phased manner. Internet banking, mobile banking and other related services will also be enabled followed by the CBS system which will be launched gradually. Savings bank account holders in the CBS post offices in these two divisions and the other CBS post offices in the country can make use this ATM. The Udupi division has been allotted 3 ATMs on trial basis. Additional ATM locations have been scheduled for operation soon, he added.
