Pramod Madhwaraj performs ‘Chappara Muhurt’ for ‘Amritha Vaibhava’
Udupi: The “Chappara Muhurt” for ‘Amritha Vaibhava’ was held at the MGM Grounds here on Saturday, February 18.
Mata Amritanandamayi, also known as Amma, will be visiting Udupi on February 25 during which she would give darshan to devotees and render discourses.
After initiating the religious rituals of the Chappara Muhurt. Pramod Madhwaraj district minister in-charge along with Brahmacharini Mangalamratha Chaithanya installed a pole in the MGM Grounds as part of the “Chappara Muhurt”.
Speaking to the media persons secretary of the programme Raghupathi Bhat said that nearly 50-60 thousand people will be attending the Amritha Vaibhava programme. The committee had to make arrangements to provide them with food and shelter. The aim is to provide better facilities for the devotees. Amma will deliver a spiritual discourse followed by a session of meditation and Bhajans. This will be followed by the Darshan where Amma will grant individual solace to all with her loving embrace.
On request of the district minister the endowment minister has ordered the endowment temples to proved food items for the Amritha Vaibhava prasadam. We will prepare the food for around 30000 people and we are ready to arrange more food if the devotees increase. 1000 foreign devotees will also attend the programme. The parking facility has been given in the Royal Garden Kalsanka. Bus facility will be made available from Kalsanka to MGM Garden. Governor Vajubhai Vala, State endowment minister Rudrappa Lamani and other dignitaries will participate in the programme, he added.
Yashpal Suvarna, Ramesh Kanchan, Jayashree Krishna Raj, Celina Karkada, Meenakshi Madhava, Dinesh Puthran and others were present.
Then you wonder why developed world laughs at India. Indians are high on overdose of religion, cricket and bollywood cocktail!! If the surrounding smell of open sewer and public defecation have failed to change our ways over generations, why would we change now, right? Yes – Worship imaginary god in the morning and do every ‘adharma’ thing throughout the day!!

Correction – “1000 white devotees will also attend the programme”. As one can see, this would be another ‘selling point’ for merchants of spirituality to brag about ‘foreign’ devotees and draw even bigger crowd from local population. Needless to say, those ‘1000 devotees’ will be provided special treatment unlike every rama-dhooma-soma who would show up out of curiosity!! Great!!
