Pramod Madhwaraj performs Guddali Puja for State’s first sea walkway point at Malpe
Udupi: The groundbreaking ceremony for Karnataka’s first sea walkway point at Malpe beach was held on Wednesday, November 1. Pramod Madhwaraj district minister in charge held the Guddali Puja for the sea walkway point.

In his introductory remarks, Udupi CMC Commissioner Manjunathaiah said that It will be the first such sea walkway in the State. The sea walkway point will come up near the tourist jetty, which transports tourists on boats from Malpe to the St. Mary’s Island. An amount of Rs. 53.5 lakh has been released by the Malpe Development Committee to Nirmiti Kendra to construct the sea walkway. The work will be completed by the end of December. The length of the sea walkway will be 500 metres from the jetty and its width will be 8.5 meters. The walkway will have steel railings on either side. To give it an ambience during the evening as many as 30 ornamental lamps will be installed, he added.
In his message, Pramod Madhwaraj said that the sea walkway is a good opportunity for the people to sit and enjoy the sea breeze. It will be yet another attraction in Malpe beach for the tourists. To develop Malpe tourism, the Malpe Development Committee has initiated development work worth Rs 1.12 crore. All the projects will be completed by the end of December. Recently we have inaugurated the Padukere Bridge which is another chance to develop tourism in Padukere. The Malpe Development Committee has also initiated Rs 75 lakhs worth development work in Padukere Shanthinagara beach, he added.
CMC councillors Ganesh Nergi, Narayan Kunder, Vijay Kunder, Tourism Department assistant director Anitha and Project Director of Nirmithi Kendra Arun Kumar were present.
