Pramod Madhwaraj’s Supporter Attacked by BJP Workers

Udupi: Former minister Pramod Madhwaraj’s Close supporter was assaulted by BJP activists here in Badanidiyoor on Sunday, August 5.

The injured Sunil D’Souza has been admitted to the district government Hospital.

According to Sunil D’Souza, while he was returning after completing the preparations for the upcoming CMC elections-related work at Badanidiyoor, he noticed the local grama Panchayat president Umesh Poojary and others were consuming alcohol in a public place. Sunil D’Souza requested them to stop drinking alcohol in the public place and also warned them. Angered by it, Umesh Poojary along with friends attacked Sunil with Iron Rods. Injured Sunil D’Souza is a close aide of Former minister Pramod Madhwaraj. Sunil also alleged that during the last Assembly election, the same team had damaged many congress banners in the Badanidyoor area. This is totally a politically motivated assault, he said.

Congress leader and AICC member Amrith Shenoy visited the government hospital and said, “I condemn BJP’s cheap politics, the Congress leaders are always with the party workers, we will demand the police department to take action against the culprits. During the Congress MLA’s tenure, not even a single BJP activist was assaulted or attacked by the Congress workers. After the BJP came to power in Udupi these types of attacks are happening repeatedly in Udupi. If same continues, the Congress will surely start protesting against the BJP,” he warned.

A case has been registered in the Malpe Police Station
