Prathapchandra Shetty Unanimously Elected Chairman of Legislative Council
Belagavi: Senior Congress leader Prathapchandra Shetty has been unanimously elected as the chairperson of the Legislative council on Tuesday, December 11.
On Tuesday Prathapchandra Shetty along with Deputy Chief Minister Dr G Parameshwar, KPCC President Dinesh Gundurao, Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan, Ravi and Ivan D’Souza filed the nomination for the Council chairperson post.
Since no other candidate had filed for the Council chairperson’s post, Prathapchandra Shetty was unanimously elected as Chairman of the Legislative Council. His tenure will extend till 2022.
Pratapchandra Shetty, a native of Kundapur Taluk of Udupi District, is a four-time MLA and three-time MLC. He is known to be an active politician.
