Preparation for the Inauguration of Gangolli Church, Devotees offer Hore–Kanike
Kundapur: The head-load of gift offerings or Hore Kanike from the traditionally-dressed parishioners of Immaculate consumption Church Gangolli was held to strengthen the bonds and relationship of the local community on May 16 in preparation of the opening ceremony of the new church.
People of all communities gathered together in front of the Thouhid School Gangolli. The parishioners from all wards dressed traditionally to symbolise the original tradition of the community, gathered ward by ward with their wide variety of gifts.
The Hore Kanike procession was symbolically inaugurated by Abhinadan Shetty, Industrialist Kundapur along with Fr Anil D’Souza dean Kundapur Denary, Fr Praveen Amrith Martis principal St Mary’s College Kundapur, Roy Castelino former president Karnataka Sahithya Academy, Raju Devadiga Taluk Panchayat member, Fr Albert Crasta parish priest Gangolli Church and Gerald Newton Crasta vice president parish pastoral council.
The procession was accompanied by various tableaux, Chande, Music, Brass Band, Huli Vesha and various folk troupes.
The head-load gift offerings with a variety of gifts from the parishioners of all wards along with the gifts from other local religious community members residing in the neighbourhood were brought to the Church in a procession. Neighbouring parishes also joined in the Hore Kanike procession. The occasion and the ceremony reflected and celebrated the unity amongst all the community members of Gangolli and the neighbouring areas. The head-load gift offerings were then ceremoniously accepted by Fr Albert Crasta parish priest of the Immaculate Conception Church Gangolli.
After the Hore Kanike procession to promote peace and harmony, an inter-religious meet was held at Church premises.

Albert Crasta parish priest, G Vedavyasa K Acharya Purohit, Gangolli; Fr Louis D’Sa Director, commission for Inter religious diologe Udupi Diocese; Moulana Abdul Salam Madani, Imam of Gagolli Mosque; G K Sheena, Sri Mahalaxmi co-operative Bank Ltd Gangolli and Manzoor H Nakhuda, correspondent Anjuman Eng. Med. School Gangolli participated in the programme.
Radhika Pai of Saraswathi PU College Gangolli Topper for State in PU result was felicitated on the occasion.
