Preparations in full swing in Home Town Kundapur for Madhukar Shetty’s Last Rites

Udupi: preparations are in full swing for the cremation of IPS officer Madhukar R Shetty in his hometown Yedadi-Mathyadi. IPS officer Madhukar R Shetty known for his values and integrity breathed his last at a Hyderabad hospital on Friday, December 28.

According to Laxman Nimbaragi Surpetendent of Police Udupi District, the mortal remains will arrive at the Bengaluru airport at 1:10 pm and will be kept at APTS Yelahanka. Further at 8:25 pm the mortal remains would be flown from Bengaluru airport to Mangaluru by flight 6E 875 and finally from there to his native place in Udupi district for the last rites. The Yedadi Village of Kundapur Taluk is approximately 20 km from Brahmavar, Udupi. The Last rights of Madhukar Shetty will be held on Sunday, December 30 morning at 10:00 am.

‘Rai Farm’ the residence where Madhukar Shetty was brought up is in mourning. A large number of villagers, family members and others have gathered outside the residence. Family members and the police department have decided to cremate Madhukar Shetty near his parent’s cremation site. The ground leveling work has been done with the help of a JCB.

According to the family members, the mortal remains will arrive at midnight on Saturday to Yadadi. Later Madhukar Shetty’s body will be kept for public viewing. From there the mortal remains will be carried to the burial site.

Karnataka Director General of Police Neelamani Raju and several other high ranking police officials are expected to attend the last rites.

The Kundapur constituency MLA Halady Srinivas Shetty speaking to Mangalorean.com said, “The death of an honest officer has saddened me. Just before two days, I had inquired about the health condition of Madhukar Shetty. Madhukar Shetty was a close friend of mine and I liked his ideology very much. His exemplary services and contribution to the society will always be remembered. May God give the family members and admirer’s strength to bear the great loss”, he said.

Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat in his condolence message said, “I am deeply saddened by the untimely demise of an honest and upright IPS officer Madhukar Shetty. He was an extraordinary and honest police officer and was very much liked by the people. May his soul in peace. My condolences are with the family”, he said.
