Preserve Forest for Future Generations – DC G Jagadeesh

Udupi: Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesh has reminded the youth of their responsibility to protect the earth and its forests and preserve them for future generations.
He was speaking after inaugurating the Vrakshothava programme organized by the Forest department in association with Udupi district working Journalists’ Association and Press Club Udupi at the Salumarada Thimmakka Tree Park at Badagabettu near Manipal on Friday, October 4.
DC Jagadeesh exhorted students to take the initiative to share knowledge on the environment and protect it. “Global warming is a result of mankind’s skewed approach to development. It is important to protect the natural environment while taking up development activities. By protecting trees, we ensure the survival of mankind,” he said.

K. Kamala Karikalan IFS, DFO Kundapur forest subdivision said, “There is a need to protect the endangered plant species so that the next generation can also enjoy its benefits. It is regrettable that human beings are exploiting biodiversity for their personal benefit. They don’t remember that nature has enough for need and not for greed. One cannot continue the atrocity done to Mother Nature. There is a need to take conservation steps and have an approach towards sustainable development”.

Punik Pathak IFS, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Preethi Geholot chief executive officer Udupi Zilla Panchayat, Santhosh Saralebettu secretary Udupi district working Journalists’ association, Kundapur forest range officer Lohit, Udupi Press Club Convener Nagaraj Rao and Udupi zone forest conservator officer Clifford Lobo were present.
