President-Elect of DK Bus Owners Assn Dilraj Alva Aims for Big Change in Bus Service

Mangaluru: At the Annual General Meeting held recently, Dilraj Alva of Mangaluru, the owner of M/s Ganesh Prasad Travels, was elected as the President of Dakshina Kannada Bus Owners Association, which has a fleet of nearly 250 private buses that operate in the City limits. Prior to this post, he was the Treasurer of this Association in 2016.

A Commerce graduate from St Aloysius College, Mangaluru, Dilraj was the president of the same college during 2005-2006- and in the same year he was the General Secretary of All College Students Union-Mangaluru. He was also the Treasurer of Dakshina Kannada Wrestling Association, and for the last four years, since its inception, Dilraj was the Co-ordinator of Ramakrishna Mission “Swachh Bharath-Swachh Mangaluru Abhiyan”.

Speaking to Team Mangalorean, Dilraj said, ” A meeting of association will be held on 25 August 2018, where certain issues will be discussed to run a better and smooth bus service in Mangaluru. My aim is to bring new changes and make a difference in our operation, and I am keen in rectifying three important issues, namely Shrill Horns, Ticketing System {strictly enforce held held ticket issuing devices}, and Student Bus Pass { where they can avail the passes easily with better facilities}. I am also looking forward for a friendly relationship between Bus Employees {Drivers/Conductors} and Commuters. I will be looking forward for the support from the Citizens of Mangaluru.”.

Mr. Dilraj Alva, congratulations on your new appointment as President of DK Bus Owner’s Association. Besides the three points that you have highlighted, the following issues are also to be looked into: 1. Overcrowding the bus, i.e. packing the bus like sardines in a tin can – it does not serve them as a comfortable and safe mode of transport. 2. BEGA BEGA this attitude of conductors must be ridden off – people must be made to comfortable board the bus and to take a seat, and only then the bus should be signalled to proceed. 3.
