President of WMA Govindraj Arrested for Objecting EOs from Discharging Duty
Udupi: President of Wine Merchants Association Brahmavar Govindraj Hegde was arrested by the police for objecting the election officials from discharging their duties and using abusive words to them, on April 6.
According to the police on March 26, the election flying squad team from Udupi-Chikkamagaru constituency raided a bar and restaurant in Saibarkatte near Brahmavar.
The bar owner had contacted Govindraj Hegde and asked for help. Hegde immediately arrived to the spot and threatened the officials and misbehaved with them. He also objected them from discharging their duties and threatened the officials that he would file a complaint against them through the court.
The flying squad team registered a complaint against Govindraj Hegde at the Brahmavar Police Station. After the incident, Hegde was absconding and the search was on for him.
On April 6, Govindraj was arrested in Sakleshpur and he was brought to Kundapur, where he was produced before the Kundapura Court.
Hegde was sent to judicial custody and now he is lodged in Hiriyadka Jail.
