Prince Harry helps relocate 500 elephants in Malawi

London, Oct 29 (IANS) Newly released photos and video show Prince Harry taking part in one of the worlds biggest conversation projects this summer-helping to herd elephants in Africa.

The prince spent three weeks in Malawi over the summer where he worked alongside volunteers, vets and experts on the frontline of one of the largest and most significant elephant translocations, Daily Mail reported.

Up to 500 elephants are being moved over 350 km across Malawi from Liwonde National Park and Majete Wildlife Reserve to Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve, where the elephants will be able to thrive.

In a statement Harry said: ‘Elephants simply can’t roam freely like they used to, without coming into conflict with communities, or being threatened by poaching and persecution.

Harry, who has often spoken of how he would like to shun his royal duties and live in Africa to work on such projects permanently, assisted with translocating other animals too such as a male rhino, antelopes, buffaloes and zebras.

He also facilitated in re-collaring three lions in Majete with GPS collars to monitor and protect them.
