Mumbai, March 31 (IANS) Priyanka Chopra, who has a fan in Neel Sethi — the Mowgli of Disney’s “The Jungle Book” — has asked the Indian-American child actor to brace up for an adventurous ride with the Hindi dubbed version of the international film.
Neel, who is currently in Mumbai for the promotions of the film, in an interview to IANS shared that he is fond of Priyanka, who is famous in Hollywood now courtesy “Quantico”.
And the 12-year-old also took to Twitter to post: “Priyanka Chopra #KAA-not wait for #TheJungleBook as it slithers into cinemas in India in two weeks! #April8”.
Priyanka will be infusing life to the soft and hypnotic voice of the python Kaa, voiced by Scarlett Johansson in the English version of the adventure fantasy film.
Currently shooting for “Quantico”, which is aired on Star World, Star World HD and Star World Premiere in India, and her Hollywood debut project “Baywatch”, Priyanka took out time from her schedule to respond to Neel’s tweet.
She posted: “Trust Me (Vishwaassss karo mera) Neel Sethi… It’s going to be epic! Have fun in Mumbai, Mowgli.”
Along with Priyanka, different characters from the Hindi version of the film have been voiced by Irrfan Khan, Nana Patekar, Shefali Shah and Om Puri.
Directed by Jon Favreau, “The Jungle Book” promises to be an advanced version of the eponymous 1967 animated film, and brings the story of Rudyard Kipling’s 1864 timeless classic back on the big screen.
Kim, Kanye move out of Kris Jenner’s home
Los Angeles, March 31 (IANS) Hollywood couple Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are no longer living in the house of Kim’s mother and reality TV star Kris Jenner.
The couple has moved back into their Bel-Air mansion, but temporarily as they have put the house on the market for $20 million, reports tmz.com.
Moving trucks were spotted at the Bel-Air mansion on Tuesday. Kim and Kanye have been staying at Kris’s residence since the property was being renovated after their 2013 purchase. The couple’s other residence in Hidden Hills is also under renovation.
Kim and Kanye will reportedly set up shop at the Hidden Hills mansion once the construction is complete in couple months.
Ravi Bhatia to turn into superhero for foreign TV series
Mumbai, March 31 (IANS) Television actor Ravi Bhatia, who featured in historical TV show “Jodha Akbar”, says he is excited about entering the superhero world with his first international TV series.
Ravi will be seen in an Indonesian television series “Cinta Di Langit Taj Mahal” (Love In The Air Of Taj Mahal) with Shaheer Sheikh.
The actor, who has also appeared in “Do Dil Bandhe Ek Dori Se”, was supposed to play a secret agent, but the makers decided to revamp the crime-based series into a love story with a supernatural twist.
“I am really excited, because I am playing a superhero on screen for the first time. My character has a variety of shades – from a lovestruck to a lovelorn prince, who then turns evil,” Ravi said in a statement.
He added: “Eventually, he becomes a better person and utilises his superpowers for the well being of people.”
The foreign TV series is based on a famous Indonesian folktale of Roro Jonggrang from ninth century.
Ravi will be seen playing a prince named Raja. He falls in love with Roro Jonggrang, a princess of a neighbouring kingdom. But fate takes a different turn before their love story reaches climax.
Roro gets cursed by a cruel prince Bhandung, who was enthralled by her beauty. And due to the curse, Roro is turned into a stone statue leaving Raja heartbroken.
The series will be telecast in different countries including Indonesia and Russia, and is expected to go on-air around second week of April.
Malayalam actor Mukesh all set for Kerala poll campaign
Kollam (Kerala), March 31 (IANS) Popular Malayalam actor Mukesh, who has been in films since 1982, is all set to make his debut political campaign after the CPI-M named him a candidate for the Kollam assembly seat.
“It was the party (CPI-M) which asked me to stand for the elections, and I accepted,” Mukesh told newspersons Thursday in Palakkad.
On Wednesday, the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M)-led Left Democratic Front announced the candidature of Mukesh, 60, from the Kollam assembly constituency.
The nomination of Mukesh, who hails from Kollam, located 70 km from state capital Thiruvananthapuram, was announced after several rounds of discussion.
In his more than three decades of film career, he has acted in more than 250 films and has mostly played character roles. He played comedy roles in the early part of his career.
His popular films include “Odaruthammava Aalariyam” (1984), “Boeing Boeing”, “Malappuram Haji Mahanaya Joji”, “Hitler”, “Friends”, to name a few.
Mukesh’s late father O. Madhavan was a well-known Communist besides being a professional theatre artiste and writer, while his mother Vijayakumari was an actress.
The Kollam seat is at present represented by veteran CPI-M trade union leader and former minister P.K. Gurudasan. It was after several rounds of talks at various levels that the CPI-M was able to convince the veteran to make way for Mukesh.
Mukesh, who separated from his actor wife Saritha a few years back, is now married to danseuse Methil Devika.
“Mukesh is very careful and does not do anything without a strong conviction. I am happy that he has been selected as the candidate,” said Devika, who is to campaign for her husband.
The Congress is yet to finalise its list for the state polls.
Kerala goes to the polls on May 16 for the 140 assembly seats.
