Pro-BJP Wave in DK, Confident of Winning all 8 Constituencies – MP Nalin

Mangaluru: “The preparations for the assembly elections are in full swing. All the party candidates along with their supporters are campaigning door-to-door and meeting the people. We have visited all the houses in DK and there is a Pro-BJP wave. People want to bring the BJP to power in the state and we are confident of winning in all the 8 constituencies in the district”, said MP Nalin Kumar Kateel in a press meet held at the Atal Seva Kendra, Mangaluru South Constituency BJP’s election office here on May 3.

Addressing the mediaperosns MP Nalin said, “Some candidates who are contesting for the upcoming assembly elections are misusing the schemes initiated by the NDA government and projecting them as their own. When the BJP was in power in the state under CM B S Yeddyurappa, Rs 200 crore was sanctioned for the Mangaluru South Constituency. The funds released were for the development of the roads and footpaths. The first phase of the scheme was implemented first in Mangaluru. But unfortunately, we lost in the MCC and the State elections. The Congress government has given us only coconuts. Due to the internal fight between the District minister in-charge and the MLA, the funds sanctioned for the Mangaluru South Constituency was very less. Under CM Siddaramaiah government the South Constituency received only Rs 59 crore in five years for development work. After Modi became the Prime minister he implemented the Smart City and the Swarna gram scheme. When Venkaiah Naidu was the Urban development minister, he had announced 100 smart cities and Mangaluru was one among them”.

MP Nalin further said, “To avoid corruption in the smart city project, three committees were formed. Rs 216 crores was sanctioned under the smart city scheme for Mangaluru. But the state government and the MLA failed to utilize the funds under smart city scheme. There was a delay in forming the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV). I am also the member of SPV along with the MLA but I was not invited to any of the meetings. There is no coordination and there was confusion in appointing the chairman for the Smart city project. Due to politics in Smart city project, the funds were not utilized.”

MP Nalin also said, “When we visited the houses during the campaign, we have seen a strong support for the BJP in the district, we are sure of winning the elections and coming to power.”

Former MLA Rukmayya Poojary, Ravishankar Mijar, Roopa D Bangera, Premanand Shetty and Sudheer Shetty were also present.
