Proposal to form Task Force to Boost tourism in Udupi District – Basavaraj Bommai
Udupi: “To attract more tourists to Udupi district we have decided to form a tourism task force very soon in Udupi. It will help to boost the tourism sector of Udupi district”, said Basavaraj Bommai State Home Minister and Udupi district minister in-charge.
He was speaking to media persons after chairing the development related meeting at the Dr V S Acharya memorial auditorium, Manipal here on Friday, September 27.
There was ample scope for the development of tourism and education sectors in Udupi district. Using the State and Central government grants we have decided to develop tourism places of Udupi district. In this regard, we have planned to prepare a detailed vision document for Udupi district tourism. We need to request the union government to relax the norms of the coastal regulation zone (CRZ) which will help to further develop tourism activities in the coastal areas in the coming days, he said.
There is a demand to open more Aadhaar enrolment centers in the district. We have instructed the officials to give additional facilities including internet and printers for the Aadhaar centers, he said.
In Udupi district, the housing scheme is blocked due to non-payment of the scheme money for one year. Following the requests of the MLAs, I have instructed the Zilla panchayat CEO to hold a meeting in this regard.
The sand extraction in CRZ area has started in the district. The district administration will keep strict vigilance on sand extraction. Strict action will be taken if the sand is smuggled to other districts. Vehicles without GPS will be fined and the license will be cancelled after the third violation.
